Is that considered a country tune? ;)

Right up until this happened, I expected to see calendars to be decent
enough to be worthy of being hung on the wall, but from now on, I'll be sure
to check as soon as one's given to me so that if it's like the one I threw
away, I can ask if they have something a bit less LOWLIFE!

   > Last year, our kitchen calendar was Fender Custom Shop guitars.

   > This year, its classic old farm tractors.

I'd LOVE something with a Music theme!

   > Yep, I'm as racist as, apparently, each and every white male American is.
   > Oh well, what can I do :-)

You can always Reject the Label! ;)

   > Yep, a case spec designed for the past. But it's still what's available,

When I worked in loudspeakers, we had quite a few of those racks, some over
7' tall, and all of them on wheels, and most of them loaded with
equipment...even a mixture of vacuum tube, solid state, analog, and digital.

   > I have all the gear we need to doa show in one 6 space case. A full pa,
   > I/Ofor the computer, a guitar wireless, and several more pieces I use to
   > make backing tracks but aren't necessary to play shows.

   Probably light weight too.

   > The one thing still taking up space are all the little power supplies. My
   > case has 7 of those. Because of market and regulatory restrictions, all
   > these great, small, devices have external power supplies. A really sad
   > situation.

And I always thought those external supplies were to save space ;)

   > We disagree on this ..... it was ALL about the dancing.

Then what's to disagree about? I basically said that it was touchy feely get
turned on situation which got all the attention while the band got none.

   > I worked my last two gigs without it. One saturday, another today. Yes,
   > it's a little awkard, but maybe there is a way to smooth out the problems.

It's best to operate equipment within its limitations...but Creativity can
certainly compensate f or that, as I'll be experimenting with using my old
classic DX7 synth and an old Zoom 1010 multi effects pedal.

   > They don't care. They aren't listening. You can take that to the bank.
   > It'll take some major corporate shakup to awaken them, if it ever happens.

If there weren't so many Zombies for customers, they'd Have to listen...same
   thing with 'government'.

   > Or maybe not. Maybe they'll somehow separate the computer and pro software
   > divisions from the influence of the iphone and kiddie itunes marketing
   > bosses.

When customers are too Brain-Dead to care, nothing good happens.

   > Old is fine. Here's a thing tho, how long will that old stuff last ?
   > How long if you start gigging a lot and traveling ? How you gonna get it
   > repaired when it inevitably breaks down ?

There's support out there for that classic equipment. There's a place near
me that specializes in repairing all kinds of audio equipment, old and
brand new state of the art - it's where I had all 88 key contacts on my
   Studiologic SL990 controller replaced.

   > There's a reason a grea many traveling guitar players switched from tube
   > amps to solid state years ago, reliability. I live thru that era.

Me too, and I've got nothing against solid state, particularly when it's
lighter, and can produce the same sound as tube circuits so accurate that
the only way to tell the difference is to "A-B" them.

   > Noisy 7025's, red hot plates in worn out 6L6's ..... constantly failing
   > supply caps. It was primitive. Now, people look back and think that stuff
   > was magic. It was mostly junk.

And tubes, particularly the big ones like the 6L6s , aren't cheap, and the
   transformers weigh a ton too.

   > Either learn, or write new material, or get boring over time. It's an
   > easy concept, huh.

   Jim

I'll learn AND Write new material...because I just Hate being bored!
