Where the blood spatters, things like that.              A story without important details is only a story...and since obviously,       important details are being withheld, there's really no point in even       mentioning it in the first place.              > Is any of that mentioned in this case ? Nope. Wonder why ?              According to wikipedia, the practice of feuding continues to this day,       around the world and certainly in this country. I wonder if that might       figure into it.              > Oh, found out today another aquaintance of ours knew them. In those cases, burgleries gone bad.              Armed burglars always present such a danger anywhere.              > Rural areas aren't immune to crime.              No place is. The only advantage is that rural areas have less people and the       less people, the less trouble, that and if people keep the means of self       defense near by, like The Rifleman series where Lucas almost always has his       trusty Winchester 1892 chambered in 44-40, a very effective round for use       against humans, and even larger creatures at relatively close range, close       at hand...and in several episodes, while working on his ranch, some       stranger, or more than one, with less than good intentions, caused him to       grab it before they got too close.              Remember "In Cold Blood"? That was about some stupid people way out in the       'sticks' who thought that because they weren't in the city, they were       safe...and they paid very dearly for that mistake.              But some years later I recall a similar story, where some killers invaded a       rural home - only with one difference, the bad guys didn't do so well,       because a 14 year old boy upstairs heard the commotion, fetched 30-30 rifle,       and wasted both home invaders, a happy ending for a change.              > And that's one big reason we aren't on Facebook. I don't need people       > following in real time my every movement and thought. Usenet is crazy       > enough :-)                     Jim              For one thing, I don't 'register' to communicate - I'm Not some corporate       Fascist's 'product', and besides, most humans are best avoided unless       getting into even more Needless trouble is the objective...so I'm very happy       to stick with Usenet, the way it should be!              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
