My father always always felt about being a cowboy the way I feel about
aviation and being a pilot - he got a taste of the life and preferred it to
anything else, so naturally he was also into cowboy songs, in other words,
   western, rather than country ;)

   > Country isn't Cowboy music.

No it's sure not, which is why the Blues Brothers movie was right when the
lady at 'Bob's Country Bunker' said they had both kinds, country AND western
   )

   > Bluegrass is a whole nutter thing from " country ".

Only a different *type* insomuch as 'country' can mean, *this* country,
and/or it can also mean *not the city*, and bluegrass definitely qualifies
for the most part as not the city, and for that matter so can western i.e.
cowboy songs...I guess it's all in the 'labeling' ;)

   > They say we're all immigrants. Of course that's so generalized it's
   > meaningless.

Naturally, because 'they' always say nonsense like that ;)

   > My mom's family was here in the early 1700's, pre Revolutionary War. I had
   > ancestors that fought in that one. My dads side had people on the Lewis
   > and Clark expedition. And one of dads side married a full up Cherokee
   > woman. Records of his side in Virginia fighting indians. How far back do
   > you need to go ? Does before this was a country count ?

How about this part of the planet? ;) And you sure go tracing things
back...but I've never been into that myself because to me, it's totally
   meaningless.

   > Pre that, Scotland back to the 1300's. Or Germany so far back I don't
   > even know. So, yes my ancestors came from Europe. Wonder why they left
   > :-)

Why does anyone leave some old place for some new place? They want something
   better!

   > Our current government is all about destroying the country.

Going on for a very long way back now.

   > The one worlders believe that to progress we have to dissolve nations and
   > form one big government.

The simple word for it is DEPERSONALIZATION, where the final stage is to
dissolve the Individual Person - but the very idea of it is a LIE which
canNOT ever work, although it most certainly is Proven to further make a
Hell on earth! Got a song about that too, from the work in progress 4th
   still untitled album:

   1. I'm Not The One

   verse1
promises and offers claim to get you where you'd like to be going
in their shiny one owner used car
just don't think about going very far
or notice every time they're talking how it always seems to be snowing
unless you're blind and believe what they say
otherwise make some tracks ski away

   chorus1
cause they're after fools to deceive as they wish
who'll stupidly invite their own peril
a wayward collection of unwary fish
about to be shot in their barrel
but when they get to me I'll be sure to refuse
time to start spoiling their fun
I don't see why I should have to take that abuse
so I won't go along I'm not the one
   I'm not the one

   verse2
ever hammering on us to conform to depersonalization
to pretend not to notice or see
   throw away individuality
mindless zombie robots being molded for manipulation
with no presence of thought for to know
the right way to Independently go

   chorus2
that's why it's all going down like they have it planned
with so many being bullied to choose it
instead of finding courage and taking a stand
for our Freedom before we all lose it
that's why I won't ever be a part of their game
there's no new thing under the sun
another fraud and rip-off by any other name
and I won't play cause I'm not the one

   bridge
   no I'm not the one
   I'm not the one
I'm not the one to be an unwary snoozer
cause I'm wide awake watching each move they make
and I'm resolved not to end up a loser
   I'm not the one
   I'm not the one
I'm not the one to stand for any unfreeing
instead I'll resist and always assist
in every way to get the Enemy fleeing
   cause I'm not the one
   I'm not the one

   verse3
deceivers need a lot of fools to help in setting all of their
   fires
to believe all their phony show and tell
make this world a dystopian Hell
run by a pack of the most vile wicked shameless liars
   imposing their tyrannical will
   growing stronger but only until

   chorus3
we make it clear that we're not gonna take any more
this time by actions not yakking
cause it's time to fight and start winning this war
to prevail and send the Enemy packing
that's why they ain't ever takin' me for a ride
   I'll never swallow their poison
for what they've planned is that we all commit suicide
but I'm not fallin' for it I'm not the one
   no I'm not the one

   > Maybe that's what the aliens are waiting for. Maybe they said, we won't
   > come and help you until you come together as a planet and have one ruling
   > body.

We're all Different, pure and simple, therefore NOT THE SAME, and the only
aliens to worry about are the ones doing the invading right now!

   > Or maybe they aren't our friends at all and just want to harvest pody
   > parts ?

Although I'm a total "Trekkie", I do have other favorite 'sci-fi' programs
too, particularly The Outer Limits, the original series of course, and one
of my very favorite episodes is "The Architects Of Fear", which is about
   this very subject.

   > We had a chance. It's called the music business. Not the music " give the
   > kid a chance ".

The root of all Evil part, the Love of Filthy Lucre, as so-called
'business', is what Destroys the Art of Music, which means if you're not
   given the chance, TAKE IT!!!

   > I didn't know how it would evolve at the beginning.

So often, so Tragically, even when it's clear that things are deteriorating,
nothing is done about it until it all collapses.
Far better to respond Instantly rather than waiting for disaster.

   > Funny, that's how I saw it.

If he didn't need your guitar and wanted to use it anyway, he was playing
some silly, Stupid game and it was good that you didn't go along with him!

   > Again, I have to ask, you don't get out much, do you ?

Sure I do, but I'm a bit more careful in Choosing *where* I go!
I believe in making Careful Choices.

   > not paying attention.
