   I never saw the schematic for the SM57, so I wasn't aware there was an   
   isolation transformer already built in.   
   I always assumed that if a user wanted isolation, it would be easy enough to   
   plug the mic into an isolation xfmr...and probably an inline one at that.

   An unbalanced mic? Kind  of crazy, particularly if it uses XLR cables and
