From: someone@anywheret.net              "JimD" wrote in message news:2017081522361844900-email@nowherecom...              > Loud music sells drinks, or so I read.              Yeah, I saw that one too...but it's still disgusting...sort of like loud       motorcycles sell drinks too - many Harleys, too many, are the world's most       expensive and noisiest vibrators - they might feel good, maybe even to       getting a little turned on, for the first 10 miles or so but after that,       reality sets in and the novelty wears off...so the bikers end up cruising       from one bar to the next for some liquid anesthetic i.e. booze - kind of       Stupid when one seriously thinks about it.              > You can't do anything about it anyway.              Earplugs work.              > I am seeing more and more pro bands without amps. Going to IEM's.              Now that I've tried IEMs, at least I can say that I am able to tolerate       them, but only for a certain amount of time, after that, they've got to come       out, at least for a while as I find it most uncomfortable to have something       stuck in my ears for an indefinite long period.              Not only that but if the sound person is incompetent, that will not solve       any problems.       It's so Tragic that I have to say this but when I said that I always prefer       to use a PA to run everything through, it also meant that until recently,       the person running the board actually knew how to operate the equipment       properly - but now, even though I still prefer to go through the PA, I'd       also like to have my own amp handy just in case the person at the mixer is       Bozo the Clown or reasonable facsimile thereof, and has me turned down so I       can't be heard. Then it's time to go through the amp.              > That's a far better solution. It's up to each individual how much they       > want to fry their ears. Unfortunately, I"m not seeing that trend in small       > local bands.              I don't mind if others *insist* on hurting themselves by *deliberately*       being Stupid - BUT when they insist on hurting *me* by deliberately being       Stupid, I regard that as a Assault, which after all, is Exactly what it       is...and I'm entitled to *defend* myself!!!              > Sorry, but I won't be trying anything experimental with my eyes :-)              The Sun is not some secret weapon that'll 'get you', it's properties have       been well known and understood for thousands of years. ;)              See what the politically 'correct' WIMP CULTURE has done - it's *intended*       that we fear everything, even the Sun...when in reality, the only thing to       fear is all the Idiots who listen to the FEAR MONGERS, the REAL       TERRORISTS!!!              > Right. And I'd need something ove the main opening of the scope. Not even       > thinking about that. I'll watch it on youtube.              We had a good gig today. It went fast. Then we went out for ice cream.              Jim              YUMMY!!! I should probably pick up a 5 quart pail of some and pig out over       here ;)              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
