It does work, gets the levels up to usable levels while       > allowing the mackie gain structure to stay in the usable for live range.              Boosting a weak signal is one of those more intelligent uses for       compression.       I might end up getting one sooner or later...but probably for my vocals -       I'm not a screamer because along with my hearing, I also want to keep my       voice as well, and having been born with so many problems, including vocal       ones (I had to have speech therapy when I was younger), I just don't see why       so many singers are so fussy and temperamental, to the point where I'll have       to transpose for them, most likely like today's church rehearsal - I just       sing the part, *without transposing*, and if it does end up being a bit too       challenging for matching my range to it, then I just either pick another       song, or work extra hard until I can meet the challenge, because that's the       only way I've ever known for getting through life i.e. surviving.                     If band girl makes the weekend, we'll record some live things to work this       out.              Jim              It's always a good thing to improve your sound...that's what I'm doing with       my keyboard sounds - and the overdrive, phase shifter, and tremolo pedals       sound Awesome!, so it's only a matter of time before I start looking into       compression and/or a mic preamp ;)              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
