Big band is a genre all its own.              Definitely. There's a radio program on the same station that has the old       time radio show, "Those Were The Days" in my area that also has, right       after the old time radio program, a program called "Midwest Ballroom", that       features big bands...but I just don't get into it ;)              > No, I was calling it " my concert " as a way to distinguish it from the       > concert my cousin went to ( the church thing )              Oh, okay ;)              > I was about 20 rows back center of the hall.              No problem at that distance but for those actually playing in the orchestra       or big band, it's a lot louder.              > It's not something you can just sit down to and " crank it up ". Well,       > you might manage that by luck right before you fry all the speaker arrays       > :-)              Jim              Depends on the individual. Some Idiot will usually take the       bull-in-the-china-shop approach, crank up and blow everything up, but a       gentle touch is always the best way to go.       The same kind of situation is also common when inviting the general public       to look through telescopes at star parties - so many want to hug the       telescope and/or pretend that it's a periscope or something, usually       knocking it off target and/or out of focus whereas the proper way is to       approach it Carefully with one's eye only, and then only after looking and       finding it could be better focused, gently using two or three fingers on the       focuser. Same thing with hovering a helicopter, a gentle touch, literally,       usually with three fingers on the top of the cyclic to make very delicate       adjustments.              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
