And for that to work, everyone needs their own little monitor bubble       > and their own controls. Our steel player buddy ( the guy who died last       > week ) pointed out something to us about in ears. He did a lot of bigger       > shows than my group, and had more experience with those. He said it's       > pretty much an " all or nothing " deal. What he was saying was that if       > even one guy onstage was using loud floor monitors, or some " too large /       > too loud " amp, then the in ears are useless. Reason is, they will only go       > so loud. They won't work on a stage where the ambient acoustic stage level       > is 115 db. I picked that because we hit that level a lot the last time I       > sat in with a friends band.       >       >> Drummer brought a Samsung tablet. The X-Air Q app              That SPL is Waaaaaay too high in the first place!              > I hope so too. Probably just that I assumed too much. A 4th grader would       > have caught right on. Our adult drummer, not so fast :-)              I've seen this phenomenon, i.e. 'adult' STUPIDITY, time and again in       minivans.              The 'adults', most of them anyway, have a problem opening the sliding rear       doors, and closing them hard enough to latch them properly, but the kind,       even those with single digit ages, seem to have no problem.              So what does this say? I say it means that Zombies are NOT born, they're       MADE, and young kids haven't yet been sufficiently Programmed to be Zombies       whereas the much more DUMBED-DOWN so-called 'adults', already have.              > If a general's orders aren't obeyed ...... ( Should look at myself first       > here. Should have gone over how this goes better )              Not sure what you mean there ;)              > I need to make use we go over EXACTLY how this works.              The XR18? Or the careless operation of it? ;)              It will be possible in the future to lock certain monitor buss's to       certain wireless devices. It's an obvious thing. The unit I have       doesn't do that, that I can see, but it's such an important feature       that eventually they will all work that way. Display a menu on the main       setup of the mixer where specific controls can ( monitor busses ) can       be linked to specific wireless access. In the mean time, people just       need to be awake enough to look at / read the labels on the controls       they are screwing with.              > Yep. It'll work tho. I expect some teething issues.              I'm sure it'll all work out - Behringer does some very awesome engineering.              > You might look at the X32 console version. Those have some actual       > physical controls, and only cost slightly more.              I don't like the tiny display on the X32 - I know, it can use tablets too,       but the XR18 is so nicely compact!              > I see hope.              The results of using the XR18 look Very hopeful!              > My ears weren't ringing afterwards either :-)              Now THAT's more like it!!!              > Because I don't need to hear him flailing away over there. It's actually       > quite normal for the various players to have only some of the instruments       > in their ears. Sweetwater has a nice video on this subject.              So not everyone in the band wants to hear the band?              Like I said before, WHY???              > Normal is for players to not be feed everything. I don't need to hear the       > drums. I might have some of the click so I can know the start and tempo,       > but nope, I don't need cymbals ringing in my ears thru an entire gig.              I'm sure the levels of all that can be adjusted, but actually Eliminated?              > Presonus digital mixers have that feature, of recording individual pa       > channels during a gig to a hard drive. Then, they point out you can play       > those back thru the mixer and use that as a rough sound check method.              The XR18 has a built-in digital recorder to do the same thing.              > What I have now is the monitor feed " I " hear what is going out over the       > main cabs ---- almost. What I don't hear are the acoustic drums. And, I       > hear my own instruments about 5 db hotter than they are on the mains.       > And, I hear the mix with a slight high end boost, because I have a little       > high end hearing loss. Doing that keeps me from tweeking the tones of the       > mains in a way that sounds good to me but too bright to the audience.       > Other than that, I hear the main mix.              Sounds like you've got it down then.              > Of course, we also go out and listen during sound checks. We're all       > wireless except the drummer.              Jim              By wireless, does that mean you're adjusting the XR18 from there?              And the Grammys have just started, on CBS - see the latest Dumbed-Down       Zombie CRAP being passed off as 'music' while celebrating the Corporatist       Fascists doing this Disgusting Manipulating while Destroying the Art in the       process!!!              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
