I've had too much of a bad experience with an Incompetent sound person and
so I'd rather do it myself!

Come to think of it, that's a very similar situation to why I write songs
   too ;)

   > It's bascially that if size or mobility isn't and issue, why not ???

Size, mobility, or a sound person who knows actually what they're doing ;)

   > Yep, I'm so tired of hearing about peoples monitor mixes

I can't wait to experience that capability for myself!

   Sounds very Awesome!

Can't be much worse than menu selection dialogs in Windows ;)

   > You'd love this then

I know!!! No more screaming; "I can't hear myself" to the IDIOT at the
   mixer!

   > Plenty of bass from my EV subs. Down side is they are big and heavy.

The speakers are Very Important because crappy ones will result in crappy
   sound!

   > Need some newer, lighter sub cabs.

Just so long as they have the frequency response, sensitivity i.e.
efficiency, and aren't too heavy ;)

   > I'll get right on that, after I get buying a DMX lighting system past the
   > wife :-)

I never much cared for fancy lights...it's a band, not a Christmas
tree...let the MUSIC Shine instead!!! ;)

   > I believe that is possible.

   I'm Certain that it's possible!

   > Not easy, but possible.

   Jim

Merely yet another challenge, but Well Worth Rising to and Overcoming!!!

I'd like the audience to experience the Awesome sensation of listening to an
album on a Great stereo...only LIVE!!!

Because many if not most of them have probably never even heard what a Real
Stereo sounds like, much less Awesome FRESH Original Music being played on
   it!!!
