Very petite.              I saw it's size in the Behringer vvideo...Awesome!              If I was going to carry one around, I'd just get a somewhat larger purse       (handbag) than I have now, which already has some audio cables, headphones,       MP3 player and FM transmitter, and LED flashlight in it ;)              > It has a small wifi antenna, like you'd see on any wifi router. Plastic       > with a wire inside. So, yeah, it's breakable. If you thru the mixer around       > in a bang of band cables, it'd get snapped off eventually.              Too bad it's so fragile...but at least I thought it could be placed in a       safe position so it couldn't be damaged, particularly when being       transported.              > Agreed. The Peavey ipr1600 power and it basically an empty case. It's a       > two space rack unit, and could fit inside something far smaller. But you       > still need a surface for I/O, plugs. Plus, that amp has a fan.              Yes, patch bays are still needed so long as cables are still involved.              > My bass player buddies is into some very small bass amps. Maybe like 8       > inches by 6 by 2 ... will easily fit in the pouch on a guitar gig bag.              IF, and it's a Big IF, that tiny bass speaker can be placed directly in the       quarter space And, the venue is tiny enough for the tiny speaker, it could       'squeak', as in higher frequencies ;) by, but what's true for power plant       engines is also still true for speakers, particularly at low "piston range"       frequencies - there's no replacement for displacement!              My little 8" hi fi stereo 2 way speaker cabs at less than 50W sure felt like       they were very close to knocking the walls down - but each speaker cab was       in the quarter space, and about 3' from the eighth space (ceiling) - and       that was in my bedroom!              > Our duo plays some of the same places as bands. And since ALL our sound       > is thru the pa, no, it's not that excessive.              Just so long as the volume of the venue can be *matched* by the volume of       the pa...and speaking of pa speakers, both powered and unpowered, they're       all expensive, at least at Guitar Center.              > Not a problem. Learn what a volume control is for :-)              Of course. I could power a 3" speaker or smaller from a 1000 watt amp and       have no problem...but I've seen Idiots who, if they can get their Stupid       grimy paws on the volume control, won't hesitate crank it.              > The amp is what it is. I bought it because it was only 7 lbs, and would       > fit in the same 2 rack spaces at the about 55 lb QSC amp it replaced.       > Just turn in down when not using a lot of speakers. Then there is the ohm       > thing. Most of my cabs are 8 ohm. So only one per channel and the amp       > puts out far less wattage. Could I just fry my cabs ? Sure, and we have.              I'm assuming you're using a speaker array, which requires Knowing how much       power each speaker will be dissipating, which means calculating that in       advance so there are no unpleasant surprises.              > Lot's to do. I don't really have the ambition and time to get rid of       > everything extra thing I ever bought.              So what's wrong with extra? Keep it.              > Life is full of opportunities.              Yeah, sometimes it is, but mostly, it's full of something else.              > Perhaps the trick is seeing them, then acting when possible. I don't       > have buckets of $$$, rather, I'm a scrounger, and constantly on the look       > for deals. That's my method :-)                     Jim              I've always been a scrounger - it's a survival skill.              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
