After another ELP concert in Detroit in 1972, there was a business meeting
with the band and a record producer, not sure which one, but I think ELP
wanted to start Manticore Records. In the hotel suite, Carl and I sat on a
loveset and there was a pile of
cocaine on the table and English joints were being passed all around. I don't
think it was very good weed, because it just made me tired. Greg was doing
most of the talking and I was getting really tired and bored. I started to get
   up to leave during the
talks, but Carl put his hand on my knee, as a gesture for me to stay..and so I
   did.

Then after the meeting, everyone was going to their rooms and I was so
tired and wanted to sleep, Carl says goodbye to me..What? What kind of rock
star is this guy? Oh brother! He acts like he likes me, kisses me, wants me
   around but doesn't want to
sleep with me..I started to think there was something wrong with me, but I'd
never encoutered a guy like this before...Then I told him "I can't go home and
drive, I'm too high" Then he pointed to a guy named Mark who was on tour with
   the band and said "
you can sleep in Mark's suite" and he walked away.. I looked at Mark and he
waived his hand at Carl walking away and said "he's weird". I guess so, but I
didn't know what kind of wierd he meant. I was so naive..
