   there's a lot of stuff that i like that usually gets called IDM (aphex   
   twin, boards of canada, four tet, etc), but i really hate the term "IDM"   
   because the vast majority of it's not "dance" music.  it may be   
   electronic, and it may have evolved from dance music, and it may even   
   still have significant dance music elements sometimes, but the vast   
   majority of it doesn't seem like something that you can actually dance to.   
      
   but i guess the term's sort of here to stay.
