XPost: rec.arts.tv, alt.tv.american-idol, alt.music.inxs       XPost: alt.music.alternative.female       From: setzer@setzertopia.net              > 1. Lukas Rossi       > "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve              Same old shit, different week. The guy is legitimately awful and I'm       actually really starting to wonder why they don't just come out and admit       it. At least Newsted sees it. As before he has enormous stage presence but       he flat-out cannot sing. He was just speaking lines towards the end, not       singing at all.              > 2. Zayra Alvarez       > "Call Me" by Blondie              Terrible. I thought she might have a chance after last week, but this was       god-awful.              > 3. Dana Andrews       > "About A Girl" by Nirvana              I liked it, but I was shocked they did. After saving her ass last week I       figured they'd give her hell for not doing a massive rocking song. Glad       they seem to be warming up to her a bit. She's still not going to win, but       I'm glad she's not going anywhere this week.              > 4. Patrice Pike       > "Remedy" by The Black Crowes              I like her, but they were right about her this week. Same thing, week in       and week out. She doesn't seem capable of getting out of her mold at all.       I'm sure she's successful with it, and what she said to Navarro was dead       right, but she's on national television and we, the audience, want to see       her do more.              > 5. Toby Rand       > "White Wedding" by Billy Idol              Toby is the only person left in the competition that I can "take or leave".       He's not bad, he's not good. He's just there. This performance continued       that trend. There was nothing wrong with it, but in the face of some of the       other performances of the night, it just didn't hold up.              > 6. Magni       > "Heroes" by David Bowie              I was surprised he didn't "rock out" a bit more to it (there's several cues       where he could have done so), but he continues to grow on me. Of all the       males this year he's the guy who has both stage presence AND a voice. That       alone makes him worth keeping around for a while. The performance was okay.              > 7. Ryan Star       > "I Alone" by Live              I still don't like him, but all things considered I thought he did okay with       this. Definitely not enough to make up for last week though.              > 8. Jill Gioia (with Gilby Clarke on guitar)       > "Brown Sugar" by The Rolling Stones              She's cool, but she's wearing out her welcome I think. She's not a "threat"       to win and I think I'm getting tired of her. She's kind of the Toby of the       female side...she's okay but she's nothing special. We know she can rock it       though when she wants to, I just wish she'd do it more. The really bad       thing is, she gave a bunch of testerone monkeys a vision of how they'll look       if they let a woman win, lowering the stock of deserving contenders Dilana       and Storm.              > 9. Phil Ritchie       > "One Headlight" by the Wallflowers              I hate this song, I despise him as a performer and this was terrible.              > 10. Dilana       > "Time after Time" by Cyndi Lauper              I love Dilana, she's the best in the competition. Unfortunately for her she       likes to take risks. Normally this is great, but both times she's really       done so now (Ring of Fire and this performance) I've not really enjoyed it.       It isn't that she can't do them competently because she can, but I just       don't see why she feels the need to do so. Maybe she isn't quite as aware       of her position in this competition (top 2 at the very least) and thinks she       has to do off-the-wall performances. I don't know. Either way, she's not       going anywhere.              > 11. Josh Logan       > "No Rain" by Blind Melon              God, this was just bad. After turning "Come As You Are" into a ballad I       wanted him gone. Now's the week to do it. Kick this doofus off, please.              > 12. Storm Large       > "Anything Anything" by Dramarama              Performance of the night off a great song. She better get the callback over       Pukas tomorrow.              > Bottom 3 at the end of the show:       > Josh       > Jill       > Zayra       >       > Who should go: Lukas       > Who will go: Josh or Phil              My bottom 3:              Josh       Ryan       Phil              Who should go: Josh       Who will go: Josh              --       Setzer              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
