From: nobody@location.org.NOSPAM              Hello international Beach Boys fans,       The release of Smile has re-brought to the surface the issue       of bastardizisation of Beach Boys songs in commercials.       In Australia we have an electrical store ad that uses Good Vibrations,       'The Good Guys' and Cadbury used 'Wouldn't it be Nice' in their commercials.       Both these ads I avoid by switching over immediately.              Is it not true that this is happening because in the late 60's Murray Wilson       sold off Beach Boys material. I have read the book about the Beach Boys       which       records this, can't recall the title, possibly the David Leaf one, but it is       more than 10 years old.       Also, the telemovie about the Beach Boys had this happen in it. It showed       Murray       saying that nobody cares about Little Deuce Couple with bands like Vanilla       Fudge etc,       I think it was about $750,000, a bargain he said.              wim              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
