XPost: rec.music.artists.beach-boys       From: derekbill@allsummerlong.com              Just drove in from Dallas-Fort Worth after catching this show following       a quick visit with my son at Ft. Hood, TX.              Not a large crowd....I'd estimate maybe a couple of thousand, but a       nice venue (though parking was $12.....TWELVE DOLLARS!)              The performance was well received. The audience tended to be a little       gray. I've never seen so many wrinkles so animated. A plethora of       plastic wine cups were in attendance as well. Lots of folks telling       their seatmates stories about the album and Brian's history.              I don't believe there were any moments unique to this particular       performance, so I won't go into a lot of detail about setlists, etc.,       but:              1) Brian seemed very comfortable, belting out portions of Vegetables       like a lion while a bunch of Swedes hauled a large pumpkin up over       their heads.              2) The strings and horns sounded fantastic. I would have liked to have       brought the dark-haired viola/cello player home, and my wife had the       same thoughts about Mertens. I'm sure i've said now said more than       enough about this.....so....moving on......              3) My wife, no stranger to light opera and symphonies, was amazed at       how wonderful the performance sounded. This choral/symphonic/R&R lineup       really does it for both of, regardless of my euphoric attraction to the       compositions.              Can't say enough about the music. I feel so fortunate to have lived to       see and hear this. Like the guy in the audience said to spontaneous,       unanimous applause, "Thank You, Brian!"              Derek              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
