   Yes, yes, yes.  I've posted about this a couple of times with no one   
   responding.   
   Paul McCartney in 1966 had his bass recorded on Paperback Writer with it   
   being   
   prominent in the mix, opening up new vistas for the expected sound of bass   
   guitars in   
   pop music.  And people have been stuck in this habit for a long time.   
   Bass and drums represent a rhythm section but may not always be so.   
   It is not enough to be melodic, it's the sound and noise intended and   
   produced that counts.   
   It's the sound of it.  Which is why digital reverb can give a lifeless sound   
   and be uninteresting   
   to the ears.  I could go on and on.
