From: rlburger@nospam_wisc.edu              Hi, Just a brief rant:              Back in the 60's people mostly listened to pop music on radios. So       the Beatles, the Beach Boys etc. spent most of their studio time       crafting the mono version of their songs. I read somewhere that       Hendrix, The Beatles mixed stereo versions of early albums almost as       an after thought.        I guess that explains why people care about getting Vinyl LP's of       Rubber Soul in mono - the sound is supposed to be closer to the       original artistic intent.              But damnit, the stereo remixes sound SO much better to my ears.       Does anybody out there actually prefer the mono mix of Pet Sounds?              Why is Capitol continuing to put out mono versions of Beach Boy songs       on their collections? Whenever I hear the stereo mixes, they are       invariably a massibe improvement. I guess the answer to my question       is nostalgia. People must like hearing songs just like they sounded       on their transister radio back in the day.              Am I missing something? Are there any mono freaks out there that can       explain to me the joy of hearing zero seperation between instruments?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
