I didn't mean to suggest this, I was just saying that the stereo
remixes sound MUCH better to modern ears.

But now that you mention it .... the college kids that I know do have
an interest in older music, but there is a cutoff. To them, "older"
   is the 70's.

I think the Beach Boys are a tough sell for young ears. I'm 47,
when I was a little kid, I heard some of that early 60's folk-pop
music by Trini Lopez, The Brothers Four, Kingston Trio. That music
is a bit corny, as satarized in the movie "A Mighty Wind", but I can
appreciate it. I imagine when a 20-year-old ear hears the Beach
Boys, it's like me listening to a 1955 doo-wop song, or a barbershop
   quartet.

Appreciating new music styles takes time to get past the superficial
sound. Most people don't have the patience, they just stick with
music they heard in highschool and college.
