|    Smile review Kings Park Perth Western Au    |

From: puffinnospam@iinet.net.au              Last Night in King's Park Perth WA, Brian performed Smile.              I was prepared to expect it to be the second best concert I've been to,       nudging into second place behind the Pet Sounds Tour of 2002.              WRONG. Ladies and gentlemen, We have a new Number 1 ticket holder.              The main difference that I picked up on, was how much better the band       was - they seemed a lot more comfortable together, where as previously       they were just plain 100%, they are now..... (note to self, brush up on       my maths)              It also seemed so low key, no show biz aspects - for the start of the       concert they just wondered onto stage, no intro's, no big compere       schmaltzing the crowd.              The set was pretty standard, the only one from real left field was the       acoustic set "Drive In" - possibly one of the worse Beach Boys songs       ever (how much filler can one LP have with Carls' Big Chance and Our       Fav Sessions?), but the thing is, how wonderful it sounded on the night.              Another notable difference from the Pet Sounds concert was that Brian's       voice is in much better shape, and also that Jeff doubles a lot more of       the vocals with Brian. As they have similar vocals styles, it just makes       the sound much richer.              Next - the Stockholm Strings. Are they cool or what? I hope they get       paid musician rates plus dancing rates, The sound they add was worth it,       but their dance numbers just lift the night from a great musical event       to a great event. (Fun Fun Fun was a classic) - the strings added to       Forever just lifted the song up another notch.              Brian seemed very together, and clearly enjoyed the night.              Wonderful.              The only criticism I could make, the t-shirts were not available in XXL.       As a good number of the crows were paunchy middle aged men prone to       wearing Hawaiian shirts, they missed out on a few sales (well one at       least that I know of). Still I did get the program.                     PS I also posted this review to the odd yahoo group - sorry if it's       doubled up for anyone.              Cheers              --       Charlie       --       my music is at:       http://members.iinet.net.au/~puffin/mp3.html              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
