From: rlburger@nospam_wisc.edu              I accidently saw Blondie Chapin in the early 80's, he was playing and       singing with a slightly hokie Byrds reunion tour in the early 1980's.              They were playing at a tiny club. Nostalgia for the Byrds had not       quite hit yet, they were playing bars and college clubs. It turns       out that "Blondie" is a black guy from South Africa - man, it was       surprising seeing this version of "the Byrds". I suppose he was an       equally odd vision on stage with "the Beach Boys" for the unsuspecting       fan.              Anyway, this version of the Byrds was pretty ragged, a couple of the       guys were marginal singers who looked a little out of it.              Gene Clark was the star of the show, came out in the second set and       blew everyone away with his beautiful voice.              But the other revelation was Blondie Chapin. Man, what a singer       and guitarist! He sang a solo acoustic version of the old Blind       Faith song "Can't Find My Way Home" that is still seered in my brain.       I think you could put that guy on stage with any rock band in the       world and he would stand-out as the master musician.                            On Fri, 10 Dec 2004 18:08:50 -0500, Pintar@webtv.net (Elmer Pintar)       wrote:              >Blondie Chapin was the lead singer.
