I emailed the assistant program director at KKSN, and oldies station in
Portland. And he said that he, along with a lot of the on air talent, are
beach boy fans, and that he'd try to play more of the songs. Ive caught some
of their later songs, but mostly it's the oldies stuff. Although, in the
email I complained that "side-walk surfin" makes it on the air, but Catch a
wave doesn't. And, imho, CAW is monumentally better than side walk surfin.
Part of the gist of problem si that they only play "top 40 hits".

Although I've heard songs on their that are known beach boy hits, and I've
heard songs that weren't "top 40" hits. Ive never heard "Please let me
wonder" or "she knows me too well" or "The little girl I once knew", so
those kinds of songs Ive given up on hearing. Occasionally I'll hear "Do it
again", and on one station here, "Sail on Sailor".

However, now that station is widening it's song selection. We're not getting
Michael Jackson and Huey Lewis and the News, so who knows. They might start
playing some of the good songs from the late 60's and 70's.

I'd just once like to hear "Heroes and Villians" on the air, or "good
timin'" or "friends", but I'm not holding my breath. The "classic rock"
station wouldn't be caught dead playing beach boy songs. Partly because most
of their songs aren't "classic rock".

I wish there was a "beach boys brunch" type show, like there is for the
Beatles. It'd be nice to hear some of the lesser known songs on the air, or
the interviews, w/out hearing the same story about Brian.
