From: rknroll@sympatico.ca              May 24th! Woo hoo! From Billboard.com:                     DVD Uncovers Story Of Wilson's 'Smile'              Rhino has set a May 24 release date for the DVD "Brian Wilson Presents       Smile," chronicling the making of the former Beach Boys leader's long-lost       masterwork. Disc one of the set encompasses the Showtime documentary       "Beautiful Dreamer: Brian Wilson and the Story of Smile," plus four       interviews with Wilson, one of which was conducted by "Smile" lyricist Van       Dyke Parks.              The second disc sports a full performance of the album mixed in 5.1       Surrround Sound, outtakes from the documentary, footage from the recording       of the album and Wilson performing five songs at his piano both solo and in       collaboration with band members.              As previously reported, Wilson recently won his first Grammy for album track       "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow," which was named best rock instrumental. The artist       will perform "Smile" in its entirety on a summer North American tour, which       will run from Aug. 9 in Boston to Sept. 4 in Los Angeles.              A European run, scheduled to begin June 22 in London, will be a       "hits-oriented" tour, according to the artist's official Web site.              Wilson is already writing songs for his next work. "I think it will be a       rock'n'roll album," he told Billboard last month. "Wouldn't that be great?       'Smile' was a pop album. We need rock'n'roll for sure. We just want to try       to make something that makes people get out of their seats and dance."                     -- Jonathan Cohen, N.Y              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
