   Good Lord! What a thread!

Okay, first off Lincoln wore a Stovepipe, not really a Top Hat. But,
   similar.

Little Honda indeed has 'slurred notes' (grace notes as we Classical guys
call 'em) but not a lot of Fuzz Tone. Possibly an overdriven amp, a
malfunction or achieved on the console by overdrive and limiting.

Speaking of distortion / Fuzztone - nobody is being specific which is
leading to all this confusion. A Fuzztone is a device, a box that creates
the effect. Overdrive, while similar sounding can be created in many ways as
the OP mentioned. (He quoted Burnett's 1956 recording.) Hell, the early
black Bluesmen - Chuck Berry included - would purposely slice their speakers
with a knife to get 'the sound'. Circa: '1940's. Sometimes, there were
'happy accidents' too. In any case, LH was certainly *not* the first
recorded 'fuzz / distortion' any more than Lennon's "I Feel Fine" was the
first recorded feedback. Makes for a nice story though.

The BB 'Party' album, as far as I know was the first of it's kind. Opinions?

The rest of this back and forth bickering is between you guys. I've learned
a lot in my life, but I can always learn more. That's why this NG exists -
to learn and exchange opinions. You guys don't have to agree, after all It's
Only Rock and Roll But I Like it.

   Yes I do.
