Many times. I can recall one particular 'disaster'. A perfect
example of a bad booking choice.
The show was originally supposed to be John Mayall,
with Joe Walsh as the 'opener'. For some unavoidable
reason, Walsh canceled, and Weather Report was
substituted as the opener. On short notice, I recruited
three friends and we headed to Boston in order to see
Weather Report. This was the earlier line-up, when
Miroslav Vitous was still the bass player.
All during WR's set, the yahoos in attendance kept
booing, and yelling "John Mayall" during the quieter
moments. Can't expect a bunch of Joe Walsh fans
to understand what was going on, on stage.
My friends and I sat through Mayall's set, just long
enough to take advantage of a quiet period. We stood up,
and yelled "Weather Report!!" in unison, then left.
