   There is no additional subwoofer action on the Dolby Digital version. But   
   your player setup seems to be set to small speakers... Then it routes the   
   low end to the sub. This works only when the DVD-player plays via digital   
   cable. DVD-Audio works only via 6 analog cables, and many amps don't allow   
   any bass management then.   
   There IS low end on the DVD-A, but it the main channels (as it should). Not   
   in the LFE (=low frequency effect). This is - like someone said - for   
   dinosaurs... ;-)   
   Enhancing of small main speakers should be managed by the player and/or amp,   
   not by the 6th channel.   
   To me, the DVD-A has a lot more space and body... although I don't think the   
   Dolby Digital sounds bad.
