From: Andrew.Facherty@Tesco.net              Folks,              >> The latest Weird Al Yankovic cd, "Straight Out of Lynwood" (release date       >> 9/26/2006) features a track entitled "Pancreas", which pays homage to the       >> Beach Boys/Brian Wilson "Smile" album. It borrows ideas from many of the       >> Smile tracks.              Thanks for this recommendation. I feel this is an extraordinarily good song,       well sung. The references range from God Only Knows, through Smile, to the       first Brian Wilson solo album. Musically, it's up there with 'Pale and       Precious' from XTC as decent but creative homage.              >> Very funny stuff!              Hmmm... about as funny as Smile?              > Is Weird Al still making records? Sheesh! Talk about a bad joke going       > on for way too long. This guy is it, personified.              Agreed the lyrics are not funny (although there is a certain kind of       accuracy!), but the music is quite clever. The UK hasn't had to suffer Weird       Al, so our exposure is limited...                            ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet       News==----       http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! >100,000       Newsgroups       ---= East/West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
