|    Wilson & Jardine at UCLA's Royce Hall    |

From: rkapoor@ruby.net.com.org              What a night!              Brian Wilson and his band with special guest Al Jardine at UCLA's       Royce Hall last night.              After an opening set by Scritti Politti (only the 3rd time they have       performed in the USA), Brian and his band formed a semi-circle on       stage left and performed an "unplugged" set of several songs. They       then welcomed Al Jardine to the stage and proceded to rock the hall       with a selection of well known and lesser known songs with Al taking       lead on a few of them.              After a 10 minute break to reset the stage, they performed "Pet       Sounds" from start to finish only interrupted by a standing ovation       for "God Only Knows" which Brian said is "the song I'm most proud of".              After "Pet Sounds" there was more rockin' with some covers and       classics.              This is the most animated I have ever seen Brian get on stage and it       was pure joy to watch him play off of Al on some songs.              The show closed with "Love and Mercy" which has become Brian's       standard closing song.              Despite a few technical glitches with Al's guitar and earpiece, he       looked like he was having a great time performing with Brian and the       band.              A fantastic evening indeed.              Oh, items for sale in the lobby included a 40th anniversary "Pet       Sounds" t-shirt and a Brian Wilson 1966 "action figure" in two       versions. The regular version for $35.00 and a boxed, autographed "Pet       Sounds" version for $150.00.              I didn't buy one but I saw a few walking around with them.              Rodant Kapoor              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
