   I, too, have puzzled over how Mike could've thought Smiley Smile was   
   more commercial than Smile would've been? Or how it fit into his "don't   
   f--- with the formula" attitude? Or, for that matter, how ANY of the   
   BB's late 60's albums fit into that mold from his perspective? But I am   
   glad they made Smiley Smile. It's so brilliant in it's own   
   stoned-out-of-its-mind way. First time, too, that Carl sang a lot of   
   leads on a BB's album.
