They didn't even sound like a halfway good garage band.              A little unfair?              Nothing sounds good on this record - it is very badly recorded - even the       professional band who fill out The Monkees' sound towards the end of the set       sounds awful. The girls' screaming sounds lo-fi!              > The studio sound had a richness that would not easily be recreated       > by four actors, even if a couple of them could also play instruments.              By the time The Monkees came anywhere near _my_ town (Wembley in 1997) the       four of them sounded just great on their opening song, Last Train to       Clarksville. Same players, same instrumentation, as the 1967 live album.       Different engineers and amplification!
