      From: ted@loft.tnolan.com              I tend to the theory that Brian didn't finish it because he couldn't.              He invented a new way of putting songs together with "Good Vibrations",       but he _almost_ couldn't finish that, tinkering with it endlessly, and       that was just one song. Trying to do a whole album that way was a       bridge too far.              And I don't think the fact that the 21st century "Smile" sounds a lot       like the tapes we've heard means that "Smile" was essentially finished.       I think it means more that Brian isn't any more able to finish it       now than then, but more willing to take what had been done and call it       finished.               Ted              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
