   Ah, OK.  To me, and American Standard is something from Stephen Foster   
   up through the classic era of American popular song.  Sinatra sang   
   "American Standards" (and introduced some of them).   
      
   I would consider most of the songs you list (with the exception of   
   "Their Hearts Were Full of Spring") to be covers of old Doo-Wop and   
   rock tunes that Brian liked rather than American Standards.  That's   
   not to say some of them aren't very good.
