I picked up "Smile" earlier this week, and it is a huge hit in our home.
My own teenage daughter, age 15, is listening to "Smile" right now,
and she *loves* it. Her only prior exposure to the Beach Boys (that
I know of) was performing a version of "I Get Around" on clarinet with
her middle school band. (No Britney for my daughter either--her favorite
band is Donna The Buffalo.) So I agree completely--"Smile" stands on
its own very well as a remarkable achievement that reaches non-BB-fans.

We watched Brian perform on "Leno" earlier this week and are now
wrestling with the decision of whether to make the 7-hour
trip (each way) to Atlanta to see him live. Probably not practical, but
   wouldn't it be nice?
