|    HOW BILLBOARD WORKS [was Re: will a sing    |

From: spammers-suck@yahoo.com              The Billboard charts are actually about two weeks behind. Here's why:              The American chart weeks are figured from Tuesday to Monday, as they only       take into account sales and not airplay.       That's why American albums are traditionally released on Tuesday, so that       week's Billboard chart will reflect an entire week of sales.       Smile was released on Tuesday the 28th.              The chart week ended this Monday the 4th.              The issue of Billboard that reflects 28th to the 4th will be mailed out       this Friday. But they announced that chart today---it debuted at #13.              English charts are figured from Friday to Friday. [British release dates       are on a Friday, same principle as above.] Don;lt know the methodology of       whatever chart you saw.              Amazon reflects pre-orders. That's why it was #1 on Amazon the day it was       released, because so many people had already pre-ordered it [and       continued to order it].              Hope this helps.                            "MSmith" |
