From: joemahoney1950@gmail.com              My fellow "In Trump We Trust"ers, those nutcases on the left would have you       believe that there's something suspicious or even sinister in Trump's       friendship (that's all it is; who doesn't like a FRIEND? Why Rush even       advocated "taking yourself a friend"        on their most musically and thematically ambitious album!) with Vladimir       Putin. They would point out that any true conservative (or anyone with any       sense at all) would approach Putin warily, and point to the history of       US-Russia relations as a basis for        such suspicion.               If they knew anything about Rush, they might even point out that Neil Peart       himself as decried some Russian doings, as in the "Red Lenses" line "The       Soviets are the blues."              But this would be a gross misrepresentation. Neil's line needs to be taken IN       CONTEXT. And in context, Neil was talking about his MUSICAL INfLUENCES,       namely blues-rock, as manifested in such bands as Cream, who in turn were       inspired by the pure blues        of acts like Howlin' Wold, BB King, and Muddy Waters.                      When Neil wrote that the Soviets are the "blues," he meant they were his       inspiration, his guiding light, his God -- just as Putin is to Trump.              Thank God for that,              Joe "spiritual not religious" M.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
