|    How Rush Got Their Name    |

From: joemahoney1950@gmail.com              My lumpen lovers of the livid lichen, given how long Rush has been around, and       how prolific they were as writers and performers, one might think one knows       all there is to know about the band. But just the mysteries of nature can       only be solved by God        and Religion, the mysteries of Rush can only be solved by yours truly, Pastor       Joe Mahoney.               One lingering mystery concerns the band's name. How was it chosen? The guys       themselves have striven to obscure the reasons. Alex admitted it had       something to do with drug use (which drug?) -- but declined to elaborate.               Geddy said the name had something to do with a "feeling of excitement," but       declined to specify the source or exact nature of the excitement.              Neil was the most guarded of all. He tried to dodge the question altogether,       saying the name had already chosen before he joined.               Here we must remember that Neil's guardedness arose from his being too frank       with British writer Barry Miles, in which he admitted to his worship of Ayn       Rand, his belief that hers is the only worthwhile philosophy, and to extreme       right-wing views all        around. This led to criticism from the left-wing/Marxist media establishment,       and to Neil remaining silent and sulky for decades to come so that Rush would       not be blacklisted out of existence.               But Geddy's admission that Rush refers in part to a feeling of excitement       still provides a clue. Where would these guys, who did not indulge in       groupies (ick!) or hedonistic behavior in general (aside from Alex' and his       unspecified drug) get their        excitement?               Well, they have all admitted to listening to the radio a lot. So what would       they find on the RADIO to give them excitement and also inspire their name?              The answer, my dutiful congregants, is in RUSH LIMBAUGH'S radio show. The       politics match. The portliness matches. And the NAME proves my theory beyond       any doubt. They named themselves after RUSH Limbaugh.              But what about Alex and his statement that the name Rush also has something to       do with drugs?              My rectum-displaying fellators of the florid fungus, we need only recall that       Rush Limbaugh was caught (by the leftist media conspiracy) purchasing and       using MASSIVE quantities of Oxycodone some years back. This is what Alex'       drug reference is about.               I can see from your nodding heads, your gaping, dribbing mouths, and your       beady, glassy eyes that you are mesmerized by dumb television -- no, by       today's Spiritual Sermon.               How about some ice cream?              Joe "spiritual not religious" M.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
