Those who *volunteer* for the U.S. Armed Forces know       that their life can be put on the line at any given moment, for reasons       that they may or may not believe in. These people sign a blank check to       their country, knowing that check may be cashed for their life. This is       who Bush sent to Iraq. I'm not saying going into Iraq was right, but       that the honorable men and women who have served and are still serving       over there *volunteered* knowing that something like this could be their       fate.              The majority of the men and women held prisoner in Iran were *not*       military personnel. They were diplomats, office workers, etc. Innocent       civilians; they were the type of people our government is supposed to       protect. Carter failed in the most important role of the POTUS. He       blinked and fumbled when this country needed a leader. He let some       college students over in a shithole country make us their bitch.       Everyone talks about what Bush did do the world's perception of the       United States, but he never made us look weak.              I know we're going to have to agree to disagree on this though.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
