Actually I spoke too soon. I exercised the 72 hour policy they dealer gives
repeat customers and picked up an E90 Saloon instead. I decided that it was
too risky having briefcases, etc. sitting out in the open and wanted a
trunk. This thing is the cat's butt. Sport package, comfort package,
paddle shifters, pretty much everything but the stupid iDrive thingy. The
only thing I'm not too thrilled about is that they did away with the concept
of spare tires. It means I get a little extra trunk storage where the rest
of the free world gets a spare tire and I have those stupid run flat tires
   that cost $480/each.

You want the E46? It's yours. I guarantee the engine isn't shooting a
single code. It has five new coil packs, was only run on Castrol full
synthetic oil and Chevron premium fuel. It has $800 worth of Hancooks which
have less than a thousand miles on them. New oil tower, vanos, and a bunch
of hoses. It has a custom tint job and the $900 factory alarm. Come and
pick it up. Hope you know how to rebuild steptronic transmissions, because
I won't touch 'em. I thought the gasket in there went out but when I got it
up on the jack stands and dropped the transmission it wasn't pretty. Torque
converter is shitting ATF all over the place and a rebuild is about $4G.
I've enjoyed not having car payments for the past couple of years since I've
paid this bitch off, and just married five years of 2.9% financing, so I
guess it's a bit of a trade off (the 0.9% is for twenty-four month payoffs).
BMWs are great cars until they go, and then they die ugly, cost-prohibitive
   deaths.
