   Color me confused...
I don't know my "right wing" from my "left", so would someone care to
   clue me?

Let's see if "my wing" can be labeled based on my "off the top of my
   head" politics:

The 2nd amendment isn't about duck/deer hunting, target shooting, or
even (strictly speaking) self defence. It's about making sure that "We
the people" have the ultimate authority over government. Gun control
means having the training and skill to hit your target, not preventing
"Joe and/or Jane Nextdoor" from having one.

The government is WAY too big, FAR too nosey, and nearly totally
unresponsive to the actual desires of "We the people".

The individual woman involved should be the *ABSOLUTE* authority on
whether or not she has an abortion. *Nobody* else's opinion on the
subject is worth anything whatsoever. You don't like abortions? Don't
   have one.

Anyone accumulating idiotic (Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, similar) levels
of wealth should have their own tax bracket: "Hoarder", which should be
   taxed at 90% of gross.

Corporations are not people, and should not have *ANY* of the rights of
   people.

Related to the above, political contributions from corporations should
   be forbidden.

Congress/senate seats should be "2 years and out - PERIOD". The "Good
ol' boy" network we're currently stuck with is pure poison to anything
like representative government. Never mind the idea that Congress/Senate
membership should be a term of office, not a lifelong career.

Who gives a damn where Obama was born? For better or worse, he got
elected. Don't like him? Write your congress-critter and get him
impeached, or wait 'till the next election and boot him out of office.
Until then, shut the fuck up and get on with what passes for your
   pitiful excuse for a life.

Why are we in Iraq? And why isn't it a glow-in-the-dark parking lot?

   Ditto Afghanistan.

The terrorists didn't "strike a blow" at America on 9/11 - They flat-out
won the war. They accomplished their goal - namely, changing how America
lives. You doubt? Try getting aboard a plane. Or walking into a Rush
concert. Then try telling me that nothing has changed. (Hint: Pre-9/11,
I was never patted down to walk into a concert, nor did I have to worry
about whether my shampoo bottle held more than 3 ounces, or get x-rayed
   prior to boarding.)

The war on drugs is a lost cause.

So, based on that handful of political ideas, am I right wing or left?

(Believe it or don't, this is actually something of a serious question -
Some of the online "What're your politics?" quiz-gadgets claim I'm a
libertarian, some say Democrat, and others tell me I'm a Republican. But
none of them tell me which "wing" I am... Or for that matter, which wing
   a democrat/republican/libertarian is! Personally, I think I'm a "Keep
the roads from falling apart, but otherwise don't bug me and I won't bug
   you-tarian" - but that's kind of a mouthful...)
