   Well, Ripper era in Judas Priest was generally thought terrible. Blaze era   
   in Maiden wasn't that great either. Of course, it is debatable how much the   
   singers themselves were to blame. Black Sabbath...difficult to say. I am   
   not that familiar with Martin era Sabbath. Some seem to love it even though   
   it was a commercial failure. Arguably present Ozzy era is their worst, as they   
   aren't doing any new material...   
      
   And Metallica certainly was seriously hurt by Burton's death, and never were   
   the same again...
