From: songbird@anthive.com               well, i sure wasn't glad to see the       "LIBERATORS" posts still clogging up the       group (which is why i read and then       unsubscribed a while ago) when i pulled       the recent few hundred posts, but then i       was sad to hear that something happened       to him. it does however make it more       possible to now see a topical post when it       happens.               it's been a long time since i've seen       anything or anyone in concert in a large       venue.               my last live Rush concert? Saginaw Civic       Center (as it was called back then), not sure       what tour, those brain cells have been recycled.       mid-to-late 70s. yep, that long ago.               and anyways, the point is really that back       then i couldn't really see the guys playing       from the front, their facial expressions or       how they sang -- i was up high looking down       and enjoying watching Neil play the drums.               so to bring it back to now, watching this       DVD and wondering if Geddy Lee always had       such a strange style of singing and i just       now see it because of the DVD or if he had a       stroke. it just seems that the delivery is       at times so odd and contorted i'm wondering...               is it so fitting that i'm now living at       home with a parent, unemployed and loving       every minute of it? at least i'm not in       the basement. however, i do have to wait for       another night to finish the concert as Ma       walked in and i had to turn down the music.       this past few lines was a joke as i'm actually       retired and taking care of Mom is a good       thing to do. i'll convert her into a Rush       fan eventually.               they still play great. even if there was a       mistake in Presto that they fixed by editing       from another concert. sometime i hope i can       find the recording of the mistake version       because i think that would be fun to listen to.       like once in a while they can mess up. it's       ok, really guys... yet i did also enjoy Geddy's       self poke at the end of the song (but it doesn't       make as much sense if you didn't read the liner       notes). however, they did the edit very well, i       could not notice it. anyone have a pointer to       the time frame? or what happened?               no, i don't want to Google it quite yet as       i hope there might be a chance for actual       on topic conversation.               the set design is interesting. as i've       not seen the live in Rio dvd yet (or many       others) the pranks with the chicken tender       caught me by surprise. and i i love the       humor in the short clips before the first and       second parts. you can tell they had fun doing       those.               well, ok, so this rambling note is from a       longtime fan who's taking advantage of music       cd sales this holiday season to replace a few       of the older releases i used to have on vinyl       (before they melted). as i get them set up in       the player. i'm also making sure i can get       what comes out on CD as i still dislike the       all digital age with no physical copy via a       download. getting those cds before they stop       having them at the stores.               really, i don't miss 8-track tapes -- i can       move on. sorta... maybe... someday...                      songbird              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
