   Hi Diane-

I have no real problem with Google Groups (as in: Windows vs. Mac - and I'm
a Microsoft professional who plays with Linux and Mac) and other Google
services are great! I just hate how Google presents newsgroups and
articles. They may have bought the Deja-News archives, but they do not own
Usenet as they would have you believe.

The Google web interface drives me nuts, because it seems way too clunky. I
usually just use Outlook Express (for convenience) to read
alt.music.steely-dan and all my faves. You can filter out junk and users in
an easy to use plain-text message system. Other Usenet die-hards prefer
other "newsreaders," but they all do pretty much the same thing.

The Google Newsgroups interface, dare I say, is Usenet for idiots. I'm not
calling Google Group users idiots, but they would feel the same way if they
saw the difference between a reader and the Google web interface. It's
merely lack of knowing a better way.

Try configuring a news reader to read this group and see the unencumbered
   difference!
