   Well,

Some people (like me) prefer paper plates over chinette.

   To each his/her own.

I use (cringe) Outlook Express to access Usenet.
It crashes approx. twice yearly and I have to play
games with the files/folders to get it back. I see that
some 3rd party software venders actually make a
*fix* for OE that costs $$.

Have you ever tried Agent? or Free Agent? I've
heard many good things about these readers.
I just like the way a standard newsreader serves up
the posts, being able to expand/contract/mark threads, etc.

And yes, I have to sift through a little spam, but its not
   that bad.

I think MS has wayyyyy overdone the GUI. I *really* hate
those stupid cartoons like flying files from one folder to another
when copying files. Crap like that annoys the hell out of me.
Only because its using resources that could otherwise be
put to good use.. like playing my favorite SD mp3's.
