From: r.lees@ntlworld.com              Just got back home from a weekend in London and I really can't understand       what's wrong with the British Press....              They reported Live Earth from Wembley, the British Grand Prix from       Silverstone, the Wimbledon Tennis Grand Slam finals and the Tour de France       prologue race in London but failed to mention the epic gig by Steely Dan at       the Hammersmith Apollo.              The show was opened by the Sam Yahel Original Trio assisted by Michael       Leonhart and Walt Weiskopf on horns; Norwegian Wood was on their half hour       setlist and I'm sure the writer in the audience, Paul McCartney, enjoyed it       as much as we did.              The Heavy Rollers backing band took the stage at 9.00pm on the button and       opened the show with an instrumental number (Jeri?) Donald, Walt, Carolyn       and Cindy then joined the band on stage, to the delight of the sellout       audience, and burst into 'Time out of Mind'.              The actual running order of the remaining songs is still a bit of a blur       (and I hadn't even lit up a doobie) but the setlist went something like:              Jeri?       Time Out Of Mind       Godwhacker       Bad Sneakers       Two Against Nature       Hey Nineteen       Haitian Divorce       Peg       Home At Last       Green Earrings       Dirty Work       Josie       Chain Lightning       Aja       FM              Encores:       Kid Charlemagne       My Old School              Don and Walt left the stage and the Heavy Rollers band closed with another       instrumental tune (Caroline?)              What a great night! Walter Becker singing 'Haitian Divorce' was a       revelation, the Dirty Work arrangement with Cindy and Carolyn singing lead       vocals was excellent but the outstanding number of the night was Aja - Keith       Carlock rocks!!              Walter introduced the band during Josie and summed them up as the 'greatest       assembly of musicians that we've ever played with'.              On this showing, I have to agree with him!!                            Rikki       (I didn't lose that number)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
