|    Can they still rock?    |

From: coolaidcb13@yahoo.com              Hello Fellow Danfans,              As I sit here listening to the sample tunes on Don's website, I must       say, I'm actually surprised at the energy on this album. It's not as       sleepy as some of the previous recent work has been... not to say I       don't appreciate the recent offerings, but I can't listen to some of       the tracks without first having a couple cups of java.              Anyway, this got me thinking (not something I tend to enjoy doing). Is       it possible that the boys will ever "rock" again? I do enjoy what       they're putting out these days but... I dunno. I myself am a       youngster, but I don't see my taste in music changing so drastically       with age, that I would neglect to kick some ass every now and then.              I read in the biography that the boys tailored their earlier tunes to       appeal slightly more to the simple-minded masses, as an attempt to       trick them into appreciating more complex forms of music such as       jazz... but does this mean that more Rock based albums such as the       Royal Scam were phoney? I guess what I'm getting at here is, are they       really so old that they can't rock anymore? Or has the desire to rock       gone away long ago? Does age really affect the desire to rock?              Here's my retarded (and most likely "immature" opinion)... I       personally believe that they have gone as far as is possible with       their current sound. It's time for another evolution. Hey, I know what       I think means nothing... but how about a real jazz album? If these       guys are as bright as I give them credit for, lets hear something that       doesn't fit into what I'd consider to be the "smooth-jazz" genre. If       you're not going to rock us like you used to, how about throwing us       some straight-ahead jazz, or some fusion. I really enjoyed what they       did with Marian McPartland, so I know they can do it, I just wonder       why they don't.              I've been drinking tonight folks, so go easy on me. I'm just trying to       strike up some good healthy debate. Don't have a stroke, ya hear?              Take Care              Cedric              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
