We were there as well. Floor seats, J aisle. Having seen every SD
tour since 94 (no big feat ), here are some of my comments:

Aside from WB, the late CB, and one singer, the band seemed to be
almost the exact same SD touring band from the last tour.

Yeah, the sound was bad at the beginning. As you say, right off the
bat there was this nasty muddy base laying over everything. I could
say nearly the same thing about the Tweeter show on the last tour.
Echo'y, muddy. The Tweeter show never seemed to get better, this show
seemed to get better, or my ears got used to it as the other poster
pointed out. The keyboards were defintely the big loser for the
night. I didn't even notice there was an organ player until about
   half way through.

One big difference between this show and previous SD concerts was the
amount of improv and solos. Other tours seemed to be more verbatim
cuts off the albums. During this show every tune wandered around as
different musicians got their crack at it. If you look at the set
lists and it seems short, it really isn't. A lot of interesting
   exploration going on!

Black Cow seemed to be the crowd favorite of the night. That was the
'sing along' song with everyone contributing to the chorus.

Thanks DF! I never once thought I would ever hear 'Nightfly' live!
Excellent. As to my shallow side, 'Tomorrows Girls' would have been
nice, but 'Snow Bound' will do.

Was kinda surprised that Caroline Leonart (sp ???) was not featured
more. Although I am not her biggest fan she does have a very
distinctive voice. Unlike previous tours and EMG, you barely heard
   her.

Gotta love the Philly crowds. A lot of song suggestions from the
crowd during breaks and other levity. Were I not in a good mood
already (first date away from the kids for my wife and I in years) I
might have been perturbed. But it was fun, and the crowd was quiet
during the tunes, gave Donald et al. much love after each tune, and
seemed to enjoy all the tunes. That is, there was not a mass exodus
to the johns during the new songs.

DF really seems to be into the song wind up. I don't recall most
songs just ending, they all (or most) seemed to get drawn out in
different ways. The most entertaining one was ... and I can't recall
the song ... at the end DF was almost laid across his keyboard. The
band keep going through the closing stanzas over and over again. DF
got lower and lower on his KB just playing away ... looked almost like
he had a stroke or something. John Herrington was just looking at him
like "are you OK? When is this going to end?" And it just kept
going. He finally put his one finger in the air and they finished it
   up. The crowd went nuts.

Ah well, that is enough of my ramblings.
