It's interesting that he quoted Wash Post writer Dave McKenna:
   --------------------------------------------------
McKenna incisively calls Steely Dan records "almost anti-rock
records". He then immediately damns the band as precursor to the Devil
he-self: "After all these years, it seems obvious that were it not for
the fantastic commercial success of [Steely Dan], programmers at
mainstream FM stations might never have foisted subsequent smooth-jazz
purveyors from Chuck Mangione to Kenny G on the masses."
   --------------------------------------------------
I actually emailed McKenna about that statement, because it's such
inane bullshit, and because I've heard it too many times from too many
writers. I made that point and added that, if that's so, we may as
well blame Chuck Berry for Creed.

   His reply:
   -----------------------------------------------
   Jeff:
thanks for your thoughts. i was unaware that it's standard practice to
bring up kenny g and chuck mangione, but, hell, i haven't come up wth
an original thought since high school...thanks again for taking the
time, and be well...dave mckenna, dc

Can't say the guy isn't honest.

I replied one more time to point out that Chuck Mangione doesn't
deserved to be lumped in with Kenny G. I never found him all that
objectionable. He's a pretty fair trumpet player.

As for Kenny G., I agree with Richard Thompson.
