I once thought I had the whole Second Arrangement deal figured out.
But every time I listen to the two different versions I end up
   confusing myself.

According to Brian Sweet, Ed Greene played on the first take that was
erased. And then Steve Gadd played on the attempted remake. So I've
always assumed that the complete version is the remake, and the short
clip is the erased version. The only thing that confuses me is that
why wasn't Hiram Bullock's guitar piece on the original one? Was he
brought in only for the remake?

Anyway, to my ears I'd have to agree that it is Steve Gadd on the
complete clip, and Ed Greene on the short one. I personally prefer
Greene's drumming on the short clip. He's getting a great pop out of
that snare, and you can tell he's holding back. Steve's constant
hi-hat lifts drive me nuts, I don't think they fit... he makes them
fit... but eh... the drums on the remake almost sound like they're
being sequenced by WENDEL or something. Very cold and sterile... not
as fluid as the drums on the short clip.

P.S. Who played drums on Kulee Baba? :-D

   The answer... Rick Marotta.... dig.
