From: regenton3.nospam@telenet.be              Hello,              This is the first track where I don't give a better score after two months.       At first listening, it got 8 / 10 - - - now it's 7.5/10.       (I think It has to do with the bridge , I come back to this point later).              This is a nice funky song ; guitars on both sides,       counterparts by (wa-wa) guitar and horns alternating. Very good.              It's a little bit a pity that the E chord is SO much used in this song :       alternating in Em7 and Em6 (except in the intro and the bridge, see below).              However this is compensated largely by the magnificent bridge, from       2:45-3:30       Excellent jazzy chords, and a terrific guitar solo.       This is one of the "golden" moments of this CD.       I think I must have been impressed so much by this, that I immediately gave       8 at first listening.              But from 4:50 on, not much happens anymore. The song keeps on "brite       nitegown... .. you can't ... nitegown ... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..       .. .." -ing for more than two minutes.              What I did was skipping the rest of the song, and before jumping to the       "Pagoda of Funn", rewinding a little bit in order to hear those funny horns.       Now, only today, I just discovered that these funny horns are already       present well before the end, but you can hardly hear them. Then I       discovered that there is really an evolution in what the horns do at the       end, but you can hardly hear that. Try not to listen to the "brite nitegown,       brite nite ... .. ... ... ... ..."       A bitter mix (and a little harmonic evolution) could have made the end MUCH       more interesting.              Oh-yes, the small solo marimba part is funny too...              Any comments?       R-ton              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
