   Hi,   
    I haven't posted much here but I liked the challenge. I have been into   
   Steely Dan since I was about 8 or 9 and I remember asking my Mom what   
   instruments they were playing because I was used to country music around the   
   house and this was all so new to me. She didn't know, but I believe its that   
   curiousity that has led me on the path I've been on my entire life as a   
   musician.   
    I still listen to a good dose of the Dan but I also enjoy:   
   Ween   
   Black Flag   
   Frank Zappa   
   AC/DC   
   Flaming Lips   
   The Residents   
      
   a little polar I'd say...   
      
   There is a live Ween recording in which Gene or Dean comments after a   
   particularly well executed song, "That was tighter than Steely Dan's   
   asshole!"  I saw that as a high compliment.
