   Would Pink Floyd have sold that many albums if they had continued to   
   record songs like Bike? Absolutely not. But look at what the Rolling   
   Stones were playing at the time. Would they have gone on to sell as   
   many albums as they have if they were still recording songs like She's   
   A Rainbow? No.   
      
   As for the picture, that's a record company publicity shot and very   
   typical of the time it was taken. Is it a silly picture? Absolutely.   
   But thaht's how the record companies were promoting people back then.   
   Every band of that period that had a record contract (or were working   
   to get one) has a picture just like it.   
      
   If Barrett remained with the band the albums you cite would most   
   likely have never been made. But his influence is all over them... if   
   you know what to listen to.
